Getting started

Using Sylvia

How do I open Sylvia?

After installing the extension, open Gmail in Chrome. Sylvia appears as a sidebar on the right — sign in with your Google account the first time, then type what you want in plain English.

Sylvia doesn't appear in Gmail
  1. Reload the Gmail tab.
  2. Check that the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions.
  3. Make sure you're on mail.google.com — other Gmail clients and apps are not supported.

Still not showing? Write to support@sylviamail.app.

I don't see the changes Sylvia made

Changes made through the Gmail API don't always appear instantly in the Gmail interface. Refresh Gmail to see the updated labels, archive, or trash.

Will Sylvia delete or change emails without asking?

No. Every action that changes or removes emails shows a preview — how many emails, which ones, and what will happen — and waits for your confirmation. For tips on writing precise commands, see the best practices guide.

I got a "quota exceeded" error

Google limits how many Gmail API requests can be made in a short time. Wait 30–60 minutes and try again — the limit resets automatically and your account is not affected.

Plans & billing

Credits and API keys

How do credits work?

On the Sylvia plan, each AI reply uses one credit. Credits are bought in one-time packs — there are no subscriptions or automatic charges — and they never expire. Credits are not deducted for failed or error responses.

Can I use my own API key instead?

Yes. Open the extension popup, go to Settings and choose Use your own API key instead. You can use an OpenAI, Gemini or Azure key; it's stored only in your browser and you pay your provider directly.

Can I get a refund?

Credit purchases are final and non-refundable, as described in our Terms. This doesn't affect any rights you have under mandatory EU consumer law. If you were charged in error, contact support@sylviamail.app.

Who processes payments?

Payments are handled by Stripe. Sylvia never receives or stores your card details.

Privacy & access

Your data, your control

Does Sylvia store my emails?

No. Email content is never stored by Sylvia — not in a database, not in logs. It is only sent to the AI provider that processes your request. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

How do I revoke Sylvia's access to Gmail?

Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions, select Sylvia and remove access. You can do this at any time.

How do I uninstall Sylvia and delete my data?

Remove the extension from chrome://extensions: this deletes your API keys, preferences and chat history from the browser. To also erase your account data on our side (including any remaining credits), write to privacy@sylviamail.app.
